The Mizell Center is pleased to present our Movie of the Week. We bring you the classics, musicals, recent hits, and more with a different theme each month.  Bring your friends and join the Mizell family for popcorn and a great time at the movies. Documentaries & Discussions

The Mizell Documentary Salon is proud to present a series of documentaries on select topics. Each documentary is introduced by Bernard “Butch” Epps, MFA, who, after the film has been shown leads a discussion of topics related to the film that are of interest to the audience and generate thoughtful discourse.

Wednesdays: 2:00 pm – 4:00 om
Fee for each month-long series: $5 for members/$6.50 for non-members

Live Music

Jazz Jam with Dick Broadie and Friends – Every Wednesday, Dick has a session for musicians who love to jam. It is open to any musician who would enjoy playing with a group. When you come to listen, you won’t believe these guys haven’t been practicing and playing together for years! Wednesdays: 10:00am – 12:00pm ; FREE for members / $5 for non-members

Chuck Miller’s Golden State Dixie Ramblers or Live Music and Dancing with Dick Broadie (alternating weeks) – Every Friday from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm you are welcome to join the fun of hearing retired professional musicians ply their trade. Dancing, swaying and applause for the soloists draw the audience in the world of these exceptional musicians. FREE for members/$5 non-members

You can stop and listen to great music, sing a song, or join others in dancing to the music and beat of the Big Bands.

 

Theater/Improv

The Laughter Clinic – Fun thru Improv Games & Exercises

Laughter is a great way to become healthier and happier, and that’s no joke! Join Jonathan Goldman of “The Improv Oasis”; find your creative imagination and learn some skills for coping better with life’s potholes by enjoying various improv games in a supportive workshop. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. Wear sensible shoes and comfortable clothing for movement.

$7 for members (if paid in advance) / $10 for non-members

Classes are held on Tuesdays from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
