“… in the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”

About Mizell Center

Serving the Greater Palm Springs Area

Mizell Center has been serving the greater Palm Springs area for 45 years, and is an acknowledged leader in active aging. Mizell’s multi-faceted network of programs and services for seniors are designed to encourage creativity, promote lifelong learning and sustain an active and engaged lifestyle. Most importantly, Mizell’s welcoming space offers community and kinship for seniors from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

The Center is a place that thrives on the sound of friends chatting over lunch in the dining room, music being played by talented musicians who, while no longer getting paid, are most certainly not retired and the encouraging words of a certified coach guiding a class through our falls prevention program, A Matter of Balance. Mizell offers a stimulating and supportive environment for all who are able to join us.

We invite you to become a member of Mizell and take full advantage of members-only discounts on our year round classes and programs. Membership is not required, however, to participate in all that Mizell has to offer. Seasonal residents and guests are warmly welcomed. For more information on membership and how to join, please click on the Membership tab on our home page.

Meals on Wheels Nutrition Program

In the community, Mizell operates the largest Meals on Wheels program in the Coachella Valley, fueled by the belief that no senior should ever have to choose between buying food and paying for medicine.

We deliver approximately 400 meals a day to homebound seniors and 9 congregate sites, such as other senior centers, on routes that span the Coachella Valley from White Water to the Salton Sea. Every meal is delivered by a staff driver that is trained to recognize health issues and other problems. They are CPR certified, trained in signs of elder abuse and able to assist with connecting clients to our Outreach Coordinator for referral to additional services.

Our drivers are frequently the only person a homebound senior will see on a daily basis, making Meals on Wheels so much more than just a delivery service. It’s one of the primary reasons that our clients are able to age in place, retaining their independence and dignity.
