    About Mizell

    Mizell Senior Center has been serving the greater Palm Springs area for nearly 40 years, and is the community focal point on healthy and active aging.  This is a place where Active Seniors come together for service and activity which enhances dignity, supports independence, and encourages involvement in and with the community.  Take a look at our new video that highlights our expanded Meals On Wheels Service:

    Programs support individuals in all phases of the aging process and promote healthy aging, wellness, and community participation.  The mission of the Mizell Senior Center is to enhance the lives and welfare of adults who live in or visit our community. Programs and services at Mizell Senior Center are designed to meet the needs of low income seniors and to provide opportunities to combat loneliness, isolation, and maintain active productive lives.  Loneliness, isolation, and depression know no economic boundaries. We have over 50,000 visits each year from individuals taking part in our activities and programs.


    Weekly Newsletter

    Mizell Senior Center publishes a Weekly e-Newsletter that is distributed to our members and supporters.  The Newsletter contains a wealth of information about upcoming programs and activities at Mizell along with our weekly nutrition program menu.  All of our Business Partners are listed in the Newsletter along with links to their websites so you can easily find out information on products and services that are important to you.  If you would like to sign-up to receive our e-Newsletter, click the subscribe button on the right side of this website.

    Daily Lunches

    lunch Hot lunches are served daily.  We have a new lunch program.  If you are over 60 years old and would like to participate, ask to complete the Enrollment Form.  We are requesting a $3.00 donation to help maintain the high quality of our Meals.  If you are under age 60 or do not wish to participate in the program, the meal cost is $4.00.  Lunches are served Monday through Friday, 11:15 AM – 12:15 PM except for major holidays.  Click here for our current menu: August 2014 Menu


    Upcoming Programs

    Get Balanced Classes – Now Twice Weekly at Mizell
    Help Prevent a Devastating Fall

    Do you find it difficult to stand for a long period of time? Is your balance less than it used to be? Do you tire easily by performing a simple task? Falling ImageThen join us for our one hour intensive balance and coordination class taught by Dr. Marc Eisman, D.C. and Stephen Matthews, D.C. This class uses specialized equipment and methods based on evidence based programs that are globally recognized. Get Balanced Classes now meet Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00AM to 10:00AM. the Get Balanced Classes are a part of our comprehensive exercise and our overall Fall Prevention programming. The cost for each class is only $3.00 for members and $6.00 for non-members. Be prepared to have fun, be challenged and Get Balanced. A devastating fall could rob you of your retirement years and your independence. Our fall prevention programs are partially funded by a generous grant from the Auen Foundation.     Learn How to Eat Healthy

    A Nutrition Presentation by Linda Bergersen, Nutritionist

     Join Linda Bergersen, MS, a Palm Springs Nutritionist on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 1:00PM.  She will help you learn about healthy foods, and will guide you toward healthier eating habits, and reveal what really are the better foods to eat, and those to avoid.  Linda has a Master’s Degree in Holistic Nutrition and is board certified.  She is a contributing writer to the and author of So, You Think You Eat Healthy?, a book about transitioning from bad foods to good.  The Seminar is free.


    Music and Dancing at Mizell

    Every Friday at Mizell

    Just because the warmer months are upon us doesn’t mean you Band Instrumentshave to stay inside.  We have brought in our Summer Music Program on Fridays at 10:00AM with Dick Broadie and the Unusual Suspects.  Where else can you dance to live music without having to stay up late at night?  At Mizell, we want to make sure you can remain active with fun programs during the summer and not give up your favorite activities like dancing . . . or just listening to live music by professional musicians. So get up, get out to Mizell, and be sure to bring your dancing shoes!  Music is free for members and $5.00 for non-members.
