Mizell Senior Center

Welcome Wes!

We welcome Wes Winter, our new Executive Director. Wes comes to us from Northern California where he was the Executive Director of the Family Justice Center, Sonoma County. He brings a wealth of experience in service to seniors, working with diverse communities, and is a champion of the strengths volunteers provide to an organization.  He’s familiar with Palm Springs, as he and his partner have had a vacation home here for years. He’s becoming familiar with Mizell by participating in classes, meeting donors and guests at the recent Stars Among Us, and actively engaging the community to broaden our reach. We look forward to working with him to introduce the greater Coachella Valley all that Mizell has to offer our actively aging adult population.

Thank you, Ginny!

On March 1st Ginny Foat, our Executive Director since 2011, began a well-deserved retirement from professional life. Her vision, passion and leadership and has made the Mizell Senior Center a recognized leader in active aging in our community.
We are profoundly grateful for all she has done, not only for the Mizell Senior Center, but for the City of Palm Springs through her service on the City Council. We wish Ginny and Pam safe travels as they hit the open road in their new RV to explore, to discover and, most importantly, to relax and enjoy.

Meals on Wheels

Mizell Senior Center has the largest Meals On Wheels Program in the Coachella Valley, serving over 400 meals each day to home-bound seniors from Palm Springs to North Shore Salton Sea.  For many of these clients, the Meals on Wheels driver is their only outside contact, and a connection to the world and services that they would otherwise be unable to access.  There is no charge for this program, although we do request a donation to help maintain the high quality of the meals.  If you are over age 60 and are homebound, you may qualify for this program.  For more information, call 760-323-5689 x109.
