For over 40 years, The Mizell Senior Center has been serving active adults in the greater Palm Springs area. Mizell Senior Center is the community focal point on healthy and active aging. At Mizell, active seniors come together for service and activity which enhances dignity, supports independence, and encourages involvement in and with the community. Programs support individuals in all phases of the aging process and promote healthy aging, wellness, and community participation. The mission of the Mizell Senior Center is to enhance the lives and welfare of adults who live in or visit our community. Programs and services at Mizell Senior Center are designed to meet the needs of low income seniors and to provide opportunities to combat loneliness, isolation, and maintain active productive lives. Loneliness, isolation, and depression know no economic boundaries. We have over 50,000 visits each year from individuals taking part in our activities and programs. Specific programs include Meals On Wheels, exercise and fall reduction programs, congregate meals on and off site, counseling, health checks, and a variety of social and recreational programs to increase socialization. Our annual flu shot program provides low cost flu vaccinations to nearly 400 high risk seniors in partnership with Desert Regional Medical Center. Mizell Senior Center serves active adults with health, wellness, art and music, and social programs. We serve lunch through our social meal program on weekdays from 11:15AM to 12:15PM and only request a donation or nominal charge. Our Meals on Wheels program serves those who are homebound. Over 450 meals are served each day from Palm Springs to Salton Sea. That is over 120,000 meals each year!! We want to thank our major sponsors for this program: The Riverside County office on Aging, S.L. Gimbel Foundation, Walmart Foundation, Jewish Federation of Palm Springs and Desert Area, Wells Fargo Foundation, Desert Classic Charities, City of Indian Wells, The Champions Volunteer Foundation, Palm Springs Rotary Foundation, Stater Bros. Charities, Coachella Valley Wellness Foundation, and generous donors like you.

Meals on Wheels
Mizell Senior Center has the largest Meals On Wheels Program in the Coachella Valley, serving nearly 500 meals each day to homebound seniors from Palm Springs to North Shore Salton Sea. For many of these clients, the Meals on Wheels driver is their only outside contact, and a connection to the world and services that they would otherwise be unable to access. There is no charge for this program, although we do request a donation to help maintain the high quality of the meals. If you are over age 60 and are homebound, you may qualify for this program. For more information, call 760-323-5689 x109.
