Now More Than Ever
Mizell Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has offered innovative programming and become a valued resource for the legions of retirees, snowbirds and visitors to the greater Palm Springs Area for more than 40 years. Today, Mizell is evolving to serve the needs and preferences of a contemporary senior who is more active and engaged, while still serving those who enjoy the traditional senior center activities. We are committed to making a difference by enhancing the lives of adults 55+ through enriching and engaging programming that is responsive and relevant to today’s older adult population. Most importantly, Mizell’s welcoming space offers community and kinship for seniors from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
In the community, Mizell operates the largest Meals on Wheels program in the Coachella Valley, fueled by the belief that no senior should ever have to choose between buying food and paying for medicine.
We deliver approximately 750+ meals a day to homebound seniors and 9 congregate sites, such as other senior centers, on routes that span the Coachella Valley from White Water to the Salton Sea. Every meal is delivered by a staff driver that is trained to recognize health issues and other problems. They are CPR certified, trained in signs of elder abuse and able to assist with connecting clients to our Outreach Coordinator for referral to additional services.
