Pop-Up Library at Mizell

Bringing library services to you! Library staff will be on site to answer questions, assist you with signing up for a library card, accepting your returns, along with a small selection of items you can check out.
Genealogy Lectures
On the first Saturday of every month, the Palm Springs Genealogical Society will present a guest speaker and topic from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Discover best practices, hear from experts, and enjoy opportunities to “show and tell” your own research. Speakers and topics will be announced soon.
Chinese Mah Jong Open Play
Join us every Wednesday, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., for the Library’s Chinese Mah Jong Open Play at Mizell. Practice your skills, learn from fellow players, and have fun. A few Chinese Mah Jong sets will be available, or bring your own.
PS Genealogical Society presents Wills and Walls by guest speaker Barbara Johns at Mizell Center

Genealogist Barbara Johns, former registrar of the Cahuilla Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, explains how wills can be important tool in breaking through those genealogy brick walls.
Lecture: Oswit Land Trust and Prescott Preserve: A Community Update, Restoring Our Natural Environment and Saving Wildlife, One Acre at a Time

Join the staff of Oswit Land Trust for an engaging and informative presentation about the organization’s history, its efforts to protect wildlife and open space, and the ongoing transformation of Prescott Preserve. Learn about the exciting restoration work taking place at Prescott Preserve and discover how lessons from this project can benefit neighborhoods, homeowners associations, and residents throughout Palm Springs. Topics will include native plants and landscaping, wildlife protection, and the importance of preserving and restoring natural open spaces in our community.
Deserted Films Presents The Merry Merry Mix Up.

Deserted Films is back with a brand-new seasonal cocktail of holiday film fun from our collections and those of our friends at UCLA Film and Television Archive (joyous old newsreels and On the Go, a 1959 interview show hosted by Jack Linkletter — Art’s son — visiting Santa’s Village up near Lake Arrowhead), A/V Geeks and more! Melissa and Devin of Deserted Films are your guides…your holiday cheerleaders. You will leave happier, less confused, and minty fresh. High-quality archival audiovisual entertainment — historical holiday newsreels, obscure TV, educational films, and of course home movies! — at the most popular price: FREE! And of course, the program will include a little tribute to Dolly Parton.

Unless noted otherwise, registration is not required. Arrive a few minutes early to grab a great seat.
